Leadership through collaboration

As a director, I seek to uplift the voices of all artists involved, and empower actors to experiment to find those voices. My directing style is part improvisational, part dramaturgical, and all collaborative. I come to rehearsals prepared with thorough blocking notes, but often begin those rehearsals by asking actors and designers what they think the scene is trying to do, and working to combine their thoughts and ideas with my own. The result is always something all artists involved can be proud of, knowing they left their mark.
